Meet Marc
For me, serving District 23 is personal. Growing up in Palo Alto, it was the incredible teachers at our local public schools that helped me to realize my potential. That's why after graduating from law school and working to defend civil rights, I returned home to help rebuild the community that gave me and my family so much. On the Palo Alto City Council and now as your District 23 Assemblymember, I’ve worked tirelessly to deliver for our communities — from Pacifica and Half Moon Bay to Silicon Valley.
I’m a doer. So when the pandemic hit, I led the passage of permanent vote-by-mail in California to ensure every voter can make their voice heard. When historic storms left a massive sinkhole on Highway 92 in San Mateo County, I worked around-the-clock to make sure we could repair and reopen our roads quickly. And with abortion rights under attack, I’ve fought to protect and expand the right to choose here in California, earning a 100% voting record from Planned Parenthood.
There’s more work to do. In our district, we live in the shadow of some of the world’s most successful tech companies — and we all deserve that same opportunity to thrive. That starts with a home we can afford, so that the teachers, nurses, and working people who give so much to our community are able to live where they work. That’s why I helped to pass the Middle-Class Housing Act, which provides a path to constructing 2 million more housing units across California. And it’s why I believe we must do more to reduce homelessness and increase our housing supply.
