State Assembly candidate and Palo Alto City Councilmember Marc Berman has earned the endorsement of the Peace Officers Research Association of California (PORAC) in his campaign for the 24th Assembly District.
“California’s peace officers put their lives on the line to protect our residents and keep our communities safe, and it’s an honor to receive their endorsement,” said Berman. “I have enjoyed working with Palo Alto’s public safety officers to engage the community and prepare for our future public safety infrastructure needs, and I will take that same collaborative approach to Sacramento to find solutions to the major issues facing our state.”
PORAC is a professional federation of local, state, and federal public safety associations. With more than 920 member organizations, representing over 69,000 officers, PORAC is the largest public safety association in California and the largest statewide public safety association in the nation.
PORAC’s endorsement comes as the Berman campaign continues to build momentum following a strong first-place finish in the primary. The campaign opened a new campaign headquarters in Mountain View, built a significant fundraising advantage over their opponent, and received endorsements from Secretary of State Alex Padilla, State Treasurer John Chiang, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, Santa Clara County Assessor Larry Stone, Mountain View Councilmember and primary opponent Mike Kasperzak, California Young Democrats, and the California Professional Firefighters. They join numerous state and local leaders in supporting Berman for State Assembly, including incumbent Assemblymember Rich Gordon, Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, former California State Controller Steve Westly, Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Kevin Mullin, Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon, the entire San Mateo County Board of Supervisors - President Warren Slocum, Vice President Don Horsley, Carole Groom, Adrienne Tissier, and Dave Pine, Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen, Equality California, California Labor Federation, and AFSCME California PEOPLE.
