State Assembly candidate and Palo Alto City Councilmember Marc Berman has earned the endorsement of Mountain View City Councilmember and former mayor Mike Kasperzak in his campaign for the 24th Assembly District.

“I've thoroughly enjoyed working with Marc as councilmembers from our respective cities, and throughout the primary campaign I respected Marc's thoughtful policy proposals on the difficult issues facing our state,” said Councilmember Kasperzak. “Marc is the only candidate in this race with a breadth of experience in the public, private, and nonprofit sectors and I support his long-term vision for our region. He will be an outstanding advocate for our district in Sacramento and I'm proud to support him.”

“Mike has been a friend for years and I’m thrilled to have his support. He is an expert on transportation, housing, and economic development issues at the local level and is a longtime advocate for those issues at the state level through his work with the California League of Cities,” said Berman. “I’m excited to work with Mike both in the 24th Assembly District and in Sacramento to make our communities more affordable, livable, and vibrant for all residents.”

Councilmember Kasperzak is serving his fourth term on the Mountain View City Council and previously served twice as mayor. He finished fourth in the primary election for the 24th Assembly District with 10.4% of the vote.

Kasperzak’s endorsement comes as the Berman campaign continues to build momentum following a decisive first-place finish in the primary, including receiving endorsements from Secretary of State Alex Padilla, State Treasurer John Chiang, San Jose Mayor Sam Liccardo, Santa Clara County Assessor Larry Stone, California Young Democrats, and the California Professional Firefighters. They join numerous state and local leaders in supporting Berman for State Assembly, including incumbent Assemblymember Rich Gordon, Lieutenant Governor Gavin Newsom, former California State Controller Steve Westly, Assembly Speaker pro Tempore Kevin Mullin, Assembly Majority Leader Ian Calderon, Santa Clara County District Attorney Jeff Rosen, Equality California, California Labor Federation, and AFSCME California PEOPLE.
